                  PIPES AND DRUMS

With the Regiment was raised the Pipes & Drums.  From the Montamara Festival in 1912 to the present day the Regimental Pipes and Drums have served and represented the Regiment at home and abroad.

For the first 54 years the Pipes were lead by only two Pipe Majors.  The first, Pipe Major (WO1) J. Gillies MSM, who came to the Seaforths after his tenure as Senior Pipe Major of the Scots Guards served as Pipe Major from 1911 till 1937.

His successor, Pipe-Major (WO1) E. Esson MBE, CD was Pipe Major from 1937 till 1965.  During this time He was also the senior Pipe-Major in the British Empire.

Today the Pipes and Drums maintain a busy year round schedule.  Sought after by many event organizers, in recent years they have played in Scotland, Hawaii, Holland, California, among many other Tattoos and Highland Games.
